Counterbore cutting is a specialized machining process that repairs the engine block, so the liner has a smooth flat surface to seal against. Using specialized tooling we cut out the damaged portion of the block and install shims or inserts. The damage to the counterbore often happens due to a head gasket failure and if not repaired will lead to premature head gasket failures in the future.
